So this site is now fully managed by Terraform and Git Actions.

I feel this is now a better representation of both my professional work and what I plan to do in the future. I have several more upcoming projects, and I’ll be writing about them here.

Windows 10 end of life questions

Windows 10 is about to be gone soon

Windows 10 is reaching EOL (end of life) on October 14 this year1. The problem is, it still represents over 50% of the total desktop market share 2 - and that includes other Windows Versions, macOS, Linux and others. Companies are being slow and careful about migrating due to not just hardware issues, but making sure their configurations and software work properly, as performing upgrades on scale and with minimal interventions and productivity breaks is a goal for any IT department, and they have been burned before 3. Running an unsupported OS is a massive security risk, unless it’s not connected to any network, so there are some choices that need to be made.

Which OS do you use?

A spicy question. Overused as well

People can sometimes be downright cultish about their desktop/laptop OS preferences - or what they’re simply used to. That goes for both people in the tech industry and outside of it. There are also differences across industries and countries. For instance, comparing Croatia where I live and USA, ChromeOS is practically non-existant here, and Windows has a far larger market share over macOS. Just popping the question is often enough to get one into heated arguments.

This website is also a project

How and why

I’ve been building simple websites manually since the Geocities era. As a matter of fact, this URL used to host one before this blog was made, in all of its’ 90s glory. I also had some blogs before this one, which were not tech related, and which used standard dynamic platforms such as Wordpress or Blogger - also built a few of those for some clients back in the day.
